An Idiot's Guide to Wine

Before

Long walk · 0.6 mi · 12 min walk; 2 min ride - Arlington Heights

A counter on Pico where the dough gets rolled from five in the morning and you order fresh pasta by the plate or by the pound. Paola Da Re and her children run it and the seating is a few tables, so most people take it away. Nothing on the board is expensive and the line at the register moves.

After

short ride recommended · 5 min - Koreatown

Open every hour of every day, in the converted Sizzler on Western. The order is sul long tang, an ox bone broth you season yourself at the table, or galbi jjim, short ribs braised in a cast iron pan and finished with cheese at the table if you ask. It is bright, loud and fast, and at four in the morning it is still full.
