About The Rounds

I moved to Nashville for the music. A few years on, as things go, obligations piled up and I realized I had lost track of who was playing where and when. The Rounds started as a way back in. The name plays on Nashville’s songwriter rounds, a nod to the music behind the idea.

Working on The Rounds reminded me how much of a city you learn by going to things. A show puts you in a neighborhood. Then you find the bar down the street, the restaurant around the corner, the place you come back to later. Over time, you learn a city corner by corner. That became the other half of The Rounds.

The Rounds now covers Nashville, New York and Los Angeles across music, film, comedy and theater. The idea is the same in each city: find something worth going to, then figure out what to do around it. A band you haven’t heard yet, a movie with a short run, a comic trying out new material, a play you might otherwise miss. Any of them can be a reason to cross town.

A few notes

The picks are truly picked.

Nothing makes the cut according to an algorithm. If it’s a Pick, I decided it belonged here.

So are the stops.

The places around the shows are chosen deliberately too, based on my own experience, friends’ word of mouth, or local sources I trust. The point isn’t to show every restaurant or bar nearby. It’s to give you a good reason to stay in the neighborhood.

The listings will keep growing.

I’ve built The Rounds mostly solo, and there will always be something I haven’t found yet. If there’s a venue, show or place around town that belongs here, drop me a line at hello@theroundsmusic.com.

Thank you for making the rounds. See you out there.
