Cathedral of Our Lady of the AngelsRafael Moneo's cathedral on Temple Street, finished in 2002, built out of ochre concrete with almost no right angles and lit through alabaster rather than glass. You enter along a long ambulatory rather than straight up an aisle. It is open to anyone to walk in and sit, and it costs nothing.

Redwood Bar & GrillPortholes and rigging turn this Second Street bar into a ship. A small stage books local bands most nights. The address was a newspaper hangout for decades before the current owners took it over and committed to the theme in 2006. Food runs until late.
