Shape The Day

Before

El Huarache Azteca

0.4 mi · 8 min walk - Highland Park

A family-run place on York that has been serving Highland Park for more than twenty years. The huarache is the reason to go, a long oval of fried masa with beans inside, crema and cheese on top and a choice of meat. Jonathan Gold named it in the Los Angeles Times list of essential restaurants in 2008 and it stayed on.

2:00 PM · Family Craft Gathering

After

Highland Park Bowl

short ride recommended · 3 min - Highland Park

A 1927 building that held a pharmacy upstairs and eight bowling lanes below during Prohibition. The 1933 Group restored it and reopened in 2016, uncovering the bow truss ceiling and a 1930s mural. Lanes go as two-hour booked packages and the bar takes walk-ins.
