North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Branch LibraryA regional branch of the Los Angeles Public Library a block off Lankershim, named for Amelia Earhart, who lived in North Hollywood before her last flight. It is a full regional branch rather than a small one, so there is a proper periodicals section, air conditioning and tables you can sit at for an hour without buying anything. Open Sunday afternoons, which very little else here is.

It sits mid-block on Lankershim in the middle of the theater district, which means the crowd after 10pm on a Friday is half people who were just at a show. Order at the bar. No table service worth waiting for.
