Shape The Night

Before

Philippe the Original

short ride recommended · 5 min - Chinatown

Opened in 1908 and at the Alameda Street address since 1951, when the original building was taken for the 101 freeway. Sawdust covers the floor. Long lines form at carving stations where you order by shouting your sandwich. The tables are communal. Coffee is still famously cheap.

8:00 PM · Parra for Cuva

After

Redwood Bar & Grill

Long walk · 0.7 mi · 15 min walk; 2 min ride - Bunker Hill

Portholes and rigging turn this Second Street bar into a ship. A small stage books local bands most nights. The address was a newspaper hangout for decades before the current owners took it over and committed to the theme in 2006. Food runs until late.
