Pasta SistersA counter on Pico where the dough gets rolled from five in the morning and you order fresh pasta by the plate or by the pound. Paola Da Re and her children run it and the seating is a few tables, so most people take it away. Nothing on the board is expensive and the line at the register moves.

Cafe Brass MonkeyAmerican-style karaoke at the back of a Wilshire strip mall, running seven nights a week since 1971. One stage, one list, everybody in the same space rather than a private booth, which is the opposite of how most of Koreatown does it. Parking behind the building on Mariposa is free after 5pm with validation.
