The Maltese Falcon (85th Anniversary)
Wednesday, December 9, 2026 · 7:00 PM · Gardena Cinema, South Bay
The Read
Huston's first film as director and he shot the script almost exactly as Hammett wrote it. Bogart was not the first choice. The bird is a prop and the whole plot is about nothing.
The Venue
Gardena Cinema
14948 Crenshaw Blvd
A South Bay single-screen cinema with a broad program of first-run, repertory and community screenings in a building that has resisted multiplex conversion.
