Long Beach, in Harbor
Art Theatre of Long Beach
Cinema · 2025 E 4th St
A single-screen art deco cinema on Fourth Street that opened in 1925 as a silent movie house, complete with an orchestra pit and a pipe organ.
It is the oldest operating single-screen cinema in Long Beach, and the streamline moderne facade carries historical landmark status. The bookings run to first-run independent and international films rather than revival programming alone.
Fourth Street through Retro Row is vintage stores and coffee, and the theater anchors the middle of it. Members get into recurring series free, including the Twin Peaks screenings that run as their own strand on the calendar.
With one screen, every booking is a decision about the whole week, so a new release shares the calendar with series programming instead of running beside it in another auditorium.
