Egyptian Theatre
Repertory Cinema · 6712 Hollywood Blvd
The American Cinematheque's Hollywood Boulevard venue, a 510-seat screen given to retrospectives, double features and conversations with the people who made the films.
The Cinematheque runs this as its Hollywood base and has been presenting films to the public since 1985, as a nonprofit supported by members, donors and volunteers rather than by a studio or a chain.
Hollywood Boulevard outside is a tourist street, and the theater is set back from it behind a long forecourt, so the walk in is part of the thing rather than a door in a wall between two souvenir shops.
Programming runs to series rather than single bookings. A director's full filmography over a week, or a double feature paired for a reason that becomes obvious by the end of the first film.
