Westchester Playhouse (Kentwood Players)
Theater · 8301 Hindry Ave
Kentwood Players turned a warehouse near LAX into a playhouse, continuing a theatrical habit that started with an elementary-school PTA.
The group formed in 1949 after parents enjoyed performing a school play. A barn, pump house and restaurant served as early stages before the Westchester Playhouse became its home in 1961.
Volunteers run the company, working onstage, backstage and in the lobby. The building has a traditional proscenium stage and a front patio for the audience.
