Santa Monica, in Westside
McCabe's Guitar Shop
Listening Room · 3101 Pico Blvd
McCabe's turns the back of a Santa Monica instrument shop into a 150-seat stage for folk, bluegrass and Americana.
Concerts began with an impromptu performance in 1968. The venue has since hosted artists including Joni Mitchell, Doc Watson, Richard Thompson and Lucinda Williams.
Instrument sales, repairs and lessons continue alongside the performance calendar. That working-shop setting puts the music among the tools used to make it.
