Arts Space · 1153 Valencia St
Pico Union Project puts concerts and community work inside a former synagogue whose stained-glass windows still carry Stars of David.
Built for Sinai Temple in 1909, the Valencia Street building later served a Welsh Presbyterian congregation. Craig and Louise Taubman bought it in 2013 and established the nonprofit.
Music, poetry, theater and dance share the sanctuary's schedule. Beyond performances, the organization offers free classes and distributes fresh produce to neighborhood families.
