Topanga Community Center puts concerts in a clubhouse the canyon's residents fund and maintain themselves.
Founded in 1949, the nonprofit relies on memberships, donations and fundraising rather than tax support. Its grounds include a ballfield, and the Community House accommodates local gatherings and private rentals.
The Topanga Symphony shares the calendar with youth activities, senior programs and civic groups. Music fits into the ordinary business of a place built for its neighbors.
