Pasadena Civic Auditorium has hosted everything from Ella Fitzgerald to televised talent shows, with concerts and stage productions continuing its broad public role.

Opened in 1932, the theater completed a civic building program that also produced Pasadena's central library and city hall. A 1923 bond issue financed that larger plan.

Its performance history includes ballet, symphony orchestras and Broadway musicals. The Motown 25 television special was filmed here, and the building has appeared on America's Got Talent and American Idol.
