Buttermilk Falls County Park
County park

Seventy-five acres of steep woodland on South Greenbush Road, opened to the public in 1975, built around a waterfall coming down the Palisades ridge. A short path leads from the parking area to the falls and the stream below them, and other trails climb to two overlooks that take in the Ramapos to the west and South Mountain to the north. The whole circuit is about a mile and a quarter and takes an hour. There is no fee.

Daily, 6am to 6pm

Gyuzo Japanese BBQ
Japanese barbecue

A yakiniku house on the mall's main level with grills set into the tables, where the meat arrives raw and you cook it yourself. The all-you-can-eat menu runs in tiers, and the top one carries A5 wagyu the chef cuts by hand. Sushi and sake come off the same order sheet. This is the only Gyuzo.

Sun to Thu, 11am to 10pm. Closed Fri and Sat

Mountainview Nature Park
County nature park

Eighty-three acres of wooded hillside on the east side of Mountainview Avenue, held by Rockland County and managed for hiking rather than recreation. The Long Path runs through it. A full loop is about three miles with 567 feet of climb.

Specialty grocer

A grocer on Route 59 with an in-house butcher and a prepared-foods case, stocking imported meats and cheeses. There is a fish counter at one end and a pastry section at the other. Ramona's Cafe of West Nyack
