Shape The Day

Before

Mei Lai Wah

Long walk · 0.5 mi · 10 min walk; 2 min ride - Chinatown - Bowery

A Chinatown bakery and coffee counter opened in 1968 by Mr and Mrs Chan, who had come from Taishan. After more than fifty years on Bayard Street it moved to a larger space at 41 Mott. A roast pork bun and a cup of coffee is what people go in for.

12:15 PM · All We Imagine as Light

After

Le Dive

0.1 mi · 1 min walk - Lower East Side

A French tabac styled bar on the corner of Canal and Orchard, with most of the crowd standing on the sidewalk. Natural wine by the glass and a short menu built around pâté and tinned fish. It opened in the 2020s and has not tried to become anything larger since.
