Shape The Day
Before
St. Paul's ChapelThe chapel at Broadway and Fulton went up in 1766 and is the oldest public building still in continuous use in Manhattan. It stands under a hundred yards from where the towers fell and came through undamaged, then spent nine months as the place recovery workers slept and ate. The pew scarred by their equipment is still inside, along with a cross forged from World Trade Center steel.

After
O'Hara's Restaurant and PubA pub on Cedar Street a block south of the World Trade Center, covered wall to ceiling in shoulder patches left by the fire and police departments that sent people here after September 11. It was buried in dust that day and reopened the following year. Pints and bar food, and the patches are the whole decor.
