BalthazarKeith McNally opened this brasserie on Spring Street in April 1997 and it has run a French menu from breakfast through to midnight ever since. The distressed brass mirrors and the tin ceiling were built that way at the start rather than acquired with age. Bread and pastry are baked daily at the bakery on the same address.

Lil' Frankie'sFrank Prisinzano opened this wood-oven pizzeria in January 2002, after Frank on Second Avenue, and later took the space next door. There is a garden out back. East Village Radio broadcasts from a street-level studio at number 21, the same owner and the next door along, with the DJs visible through the window.
