Before
White Horse TavernOpen on the Hudson Street corner since 1880, with the carved horse heads and the long dark bar still in place. Dylan Thomas drank his last here and the tavern has never once stopped mentioning it. It changed hands in 2019 and the fittings, the layout and the beer-and-a-shot pricing survived the handover.

Julius'Often called the oldest continuously operating gay bar in New York, and the site of the April 1966 Sip-In that established the right of gay customers to be served in a licensed bar. A griddle behind the bar turns out burgers all night. The floor is sawdust and the walls are covered in photographs nobody has taken down.
