Nick's PizzaA sit-down pizzeria on Ascan Avenue that does thin-crust pies to order rather than slices, with a wood-panelled dining space and a cannoli case by the register. It is cash only, which catches people out. The pies come out blistered and whole, so this is a sit-down twenty minutes rather than something to eat on the way. It has been the Forest Hills answer to this question for a long time.

Forest Hills Station HouseA bar and kitchen by the Long Island Rail Road station with a long wooden counter, a couple of dozen taps and burgers and wings off the kitchen. It opens at noon every day and runs to two in the morning on Friday and Saturday. The crowd is local most nights and becomes a Stadium crowd when there is a show. There are booths in the back and the televisions are on.
