Cinemart CinemasA five-screen cinema on Metropolitan Avenue that opened on March 10, 1927 as the Metropolis Theatre and calls itself the oldest continuously operated independent movie theater in Queens. The screens are small, between thirty-six and seventy-one seats, with digital projection and recliners put in during the last refit. The program mixes the week's releases with independent and specialty bookings. You buy a ticket at the window.

Eddie's Sweet ShopA soda fountain on Metropolitan Avenue in the same fittings it has had since the 1920s, with a marble counter, wooden stools and a tin ceiling. The ice cream is made on site and the whipped cream is whipped to order. It takes cash. It does not open until three in the afternoon, and it is closed Monday and Tuesday, so the schedule needs checking against a showtime.
