The High Line, 23rd Street lawnThe widest stretch of the High Line, where the planting gives way to a shallow lawn and a set of timber steps people sit on facing west. The 23rd Street access at Tenth Avenue has both a stair and an elevator. From here the walk north goes past the gallery blocks and arrives at Marquee's corner without touching a sidewalk. Free, and nothing to book.

The Eagle NYCThree floors and a roof deck on West 28th, the surviving leather bar of the stretch that used to be full of them. A pool table is on the second floor and a DJ plays some nights. The roof opens when the weather allows. Nothing opens before ten except on Sunday, and it runs to four in the morning the rest of the week.
