Wonder BagelsA bagel shop on Jersey Avenue that has been boiling and baking here for more than thirty-five years, with a deli counter alongside for egg sandwiches. There are other branches on Central and Bergen, and this is the downtown one. It is a morning and early-afternoon business and it closes when that is done.

The Ear InnA bar in a federal-era house at 326 Spring Street that has been serving since 1817, which puts it among the oldest continuously licensed bars in the city. The neon sign reads EAR because painting out part of the B on the old BAR sign avoided a Landmarks review. It does handmade burgers, and live music fills the place three nights a week.
