Bamonte'sOpen at 32 Withers Street since 1900 and run by Anthony Bamonte since the late 1960s, with his daughters working it now. Waiters in jackets, a payphone nook by the door, veal parmigiana and linguine with clam sauce. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Turkey's Nest TavernFamily run since the 1980s on the corner opposite McCarren Park, with a pool table and cheap beer and the ball game on. It opens at 11am and does not close until 4am, every day of the week. Nothing about it has been updated to match what went up around it.
