McNulty's Tea & Coffee Co.Open on Christopher Street since 1895 and run by the Wong family since 1980. Glass jars and brass scoops sit along the counter, burlap sacks fill the floor, and the blends carry the names of customers who used to come in, including one named for Katharine Hepburn. You buy by the weight rather than by the cup.

Julius'Often called the oldest continuously operating gay bar in New York, and the site of the April 1966 Sip-In that established the right of gay customers to be served in a licensed bar. A griddle behind the bar turns out burgers all night. The floor is sawdust and the walls are covered in photographs nobody has taken down.
