Before
Bamonte'sOpen at 32 Withers Street since 1900 and run by Anthony Bamonte since the late 1960s, with his daughters working it now. Waiters in jackets, a payphone nook by the door, veal parmigiana and linguine with clam sauce. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

After
MetropolitanOpen on Lorimer Street since 2002 and known locally as Metro, with a pool table and a large backyard that runs all summer. Drag and go-go nights follow a rotating schedule. Happy hour runs from 3pm to 8pm every day. It closes at 4am seven nights.
