Naomi's Kosher PizzaA kosher dairy counter on Main Street that has been feeding this part of Kew Gardens Hills since 1970. Slices, falafel, knishes and blintzes, ordered at the register and eaten at one of the tables in the back. It closes early on Friday for Shabbat and reopens late on Saturday night, which is a schedule you have to know rather than guess. Prices are low and the turnover is quick.

Martha's Country BakeryA bakery on Austin Street with a long glass case that starts with cakes by the slice and cannoli. Cheesecake fills the other end. The coffee counter is beside it. It opens at six in the morning and runs to midnight, later on the weekend, which makes it the most useful set of hours in Forest Hills. There are tables inside and a few on the sidewalk.
