Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg
Repertory Cinema · 136 Metropolitan Ave
The original Nitehawk opened on Metropolitan Avenue in 2011 and got New York's prohibition-era ban on alcohol in movie theaters overturned three months later.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the new law, which is why a dine-in cinema anywhere in the state can now pour a drink at a seat. Nitehawk's own service is tableside, ordered and delivered while the film runs.
It is a triplex, and the largest of the three holds 92 seats. Lo-Res, the bar downstairs, does full food and drink service and puts seating outside when the weather allows.
Programming pairs first-run releases with repertory series, so a given week can carry a new independent feature and a print of something decades older. Tickets are for specific seats, and the kitchen works the whole showtime.
