The Paris CafeA bar on the ground floor of the Meyer's Hotel building at Peck Slip, with a long wooden counter that has been serving this corner of the waterfront since the 1870s. Hurricane Sandy flooded the block and closed it, and it came back. Happy hour runs 4pm to 7pm Wednesday through Saturday.

Jeremy's Ale HouseBeer comes in styrofoam cups the size of a pitcher and the ceiling is covered in neckties and bras left by customers. It started under the Brooklyn Bridge ramp and moved a block to 228 Front Street, keeping the fryer and the prices. Fried clams and a cup of Bud is most of the menu.
