The Grey DogA coffee shop on West 16th just east of Eighth that also does eggs, sandwiches and a burger, from a counter you order at rather than a table you are seated at. Wooden chairs, old framed prints on the walls, mugs rather than paper cups if you are staying. It opens at eight and runs to nine at night every day of the week, which is a longer day than anything else on this block.

Dark wood, a long bar, booths at the back and a burger the place will argue about. It has shown up in Seinfeld, Radio Days and Law & Order, and none of that has changed anything about walking in.
