Wooden chairs, old framed prints on the walls, mugs rather than paper cups if you are staying. It opens at eight and runs to nine at night every day of the week, which is a longer day than anything else on this block.

Drinks are made carefully and slowly and the bar is open to anybody off West 23rd Street, not just to guests. Only people staying upstairs can book a table, which in practice means the rest of the seating is first come.
