Laughing Man CoffeeA small coffee counter on Duane Street with a handful of stools, open at six in the morning every day of the week. Hugh Jackman co-founded it and the stated arrangement sends profits to a foundation that buys from smallholder growers. The Tribeca shop is operated day to day under the Slate Cafe name.

It opens in the morning and does not shut until four. PUNCH calls it a holdout from the days when neighborhood pubs were everywhere down here.
