Chelsea MarketThe National Biscuit Company baked Oreos in this block-long brick building, and the ground floor is now a concourse of counters you walk through rather than sit down in. The building is open from seven in the morning until ten at night, though the stalls set their own hours inside that and the coffee and bread counters are the first ones up. It is crowded most of the day and the crowd moves. You order standing up and eat standing up, or you carry it across Tenth Avenue to the High Line.

Pier 57 Rooftop ParkTwo acres of lawn and benches on the roof of Pier 57, which is the same building City Winery is in. It opened in 2022 as a public condition of the pier's restoration, it costs nothing, and it stays open until one in the morning. You get in through the ground floor entrance at the south end, next to City Winery, then take the stairs or the elevator up. The view is downtown, the harbor and Little Island directly below.
