Harlem, in Manhattan
Apollo Theater
Concert Hall · 253 W 125th St
The Apollo's Harlem stage helped make live performance part of recorded music history: James Brown's 1962 concert became Live at the Apollo.
The theater opened on 125th Street in 1934 with a bill that included Ralph Cooper and Aida Ward. Its history joins established stars with the competitors of Amateur Night.
The historic auditorium is undergoing renovation, with programming also using the Apollo Stages at the Victoria Theater. Check the named location on your event before setting out.
