Kings brings concerts and live performance into a Flatbush movie palace whose chandeliers make their own argument for arriving before the show.
Built in 1929, the theater underwent restoration before reopening in 2015. The work preserved features including the chandeliers and patterned carpeting, retaining the scale and decoration of its cinema years.
The auditorium gives major touring productions a seated Brooklyn setting. Guided building tours also examine its architecture, which is unusually much of the experience before anyone reaches the stage.
