Bushwick, in Brooklyn
Market Hotel
Music Hall · 1140 Myrtle Ave
Market Hotel puts the elevated subway almost level with the stage windows, in an all-ages concert hall above a Bushwick grocery store.
The venue began in 2008 as an improvised concert and art space. A long process of construction and licensing followed, with full occupancy approval and a liquor license secured in 2018.
Community meetings and art events share its history with bands and dance parties. The second-floor hall keeps that broad purpose, with admission open to listeners too young for a bar.
