Michiko lets audiences hear jazz inside working rehearsal studios, where the piano is everyday equipment as well as a concert instrument.
The family-run business developed from Roberto's Winds and now operates near Bryant Park in the Garment District. Jazz, classical and Broadway musicians use its practice spaces.
Live at Michiko brings public performances into that working environment, including afternoon sets. The program places listeners close to musicians in a building usually devoted to preparation.
