Greenpoint, in Brooklyn
Sunview Luncheonette
Art Space Screening Program · 257 Nassau Ave
A former Greenpoint luncheonette run as a co-op and member-based social club, and a sometime venue for art, poetics and mutual aid on Nassau Avenue.
The co-op describes the place as a storefront on pause, and what happens inside is decided by members rather than by a booker. It goes by several names depending on the week.
It is deliberately resistant to commerce and commodification, and that shapes the programming as much as the finances. A VHS archive assembled by Bradley Eros lives here, and a CSA runs out of the storefront.
In the group's own words it is above all an approach and least of all an outcome, which is a fair warning that a screening here is closer to a gathering than to a show.
