Podcast tapings are a real part of the calendar at this Gowanus venue: Las Culturistas and Two Dope Queens have both recorded here, between stand-up bills and indie bands.
There are two performance spaces. The large one at the back has the stage and a ceiling high enough to swallow a band, and the lounge at the front handles smaller sets and gatherings.
The mix of music, comedy and storytelling was there from the earliest shows rather than arrived at later. NPR's Ask Me Another taped here, and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival is among the recurring series it has hosted.
