Smalls puts you close to working jazz musicians in a West Village basement, then preserves their sets in a growing performance archive.
The club has served as a performance space and meeting point for musicians since 1994. Jam sessions and multiple bands keep its program connected to the city's players.
Recordings from Smalls and its sibling Mezzrow enter the SmallsLIVE library. The foundation pays royalties to participating musicians, extending a set's life beyond the people present.
