A trolley car parked here in 1931 and never left. The stage is hung with tinsel and old 45s, and the map by the bathroom is old enough to still show the Warsaw Pact. Betty Butts took it over in 2000 and charges bands no production fee, which is how it became home base for the noise and free-jazz players.

A farmhouse built in 1830 that stood in the middle of the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864. The standard guided tour runs an hour and costs $22, with longer tours covering the battlefield and the people enslaved on the property. The last tour starts at 4pm.

On the National Register of Historic Places. Lynn Chandler opened it in 1939, taking over a soda fountain that had been on this block since the 1920s. The largest inland stone fortification built during the American Civil War, on a hill south of the neighborhood. A half-mile blacktop path circles the fort, with about a quarter mile of boardwalk and twenty interpretive panels along the way. Leashed dogs are allowed and the grounds are free.

The Park at Harlinsdale Farm

A 198 acre former horse farm a half mile north of Main Street. W. W. Harlin started it in 1933 and it produced Midnight Sun, the Tennessee Walking Horse stallion that took World Grand Championships in 1945 and 1946. Franklin bought the land in 2004 and opened it as a park in 2007. Walking trails, open fields and a four acre dog park.
