NoHo Arts District
Brews Brothers
Drinks

Forty-odd taps and about twenty bottles, pool tables, and enough games that people stay longer than they meant to. It sits mid-block on Lankershim in the middle of the theater district, which means the crowd after 10pm on a Friday is half people who were just at a show. Order at the bar. No table service worth waiting for.

Mon to Thu, 4pm to 10pm. Fri and Sat, noon to midnight. Sun, noon to 10pm

NoHo Arts District
El Tejano
Drinks

A brick-walled Tex-Mex place with a big open patio on the Magnolia corner two doors off Lankershim. The menu starts with grilled street corn and Frito pie. Tacos and enchiladas follow. The bar keeps draft beer and frozen margaritas, with a mezcal list beside them. There is cornhole on the patio and the kitchen stays open until closing, which is 2am every night. It took over the building that was Bow & Truss, which shut.

Mon to Sat, noon to 2am. Sun, 9:30am to 2am

NoHo Arts District
NoBar
Drinks

A dive on the east end of Magnolia with pool, craft beer on tap and cocktails that are better than the lighting suggests. It opens at 5pm and runs to 2am every night of the week, which in this part of the Valley is unusual. Regulars sit at the bar, and nobody is here for the décor.

Daily, 5pm to 2am

NoHo Arts District
North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Branch Library
Culture

A regional branch of the Los Angeles Public Library a block off Lankershim, named for Amelia Earhart, who lived in North Hollywood before her last flight. It is a full regional branch rather than a small one, so there is a proper periodicals section, air conditioning and tables you can sit at for an hour without buying anything. Open Sunday afternoons, which very little else here is.

Mon to Thu, 10am to 8pm. Fri and Sat, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Sun, 1pm to 5pm

NoHo Arts District
North Hollywood Park
Outside

Sixty-odd acres of grass, old trees and ball fields behind the Lankershim strip, with a bronze Amelia Earhart standing near the Tujunga corner because she lived in North Hollywood in the 1920s. There are picnic tables under the shade and a recreation center building with restrooms. On a hot Valley afternoon the tree cover is the point.

Grounds open daylight hours. Recreation center, Mon to Fri 9am to 9pm, Sat 9am to 5pm, closed Sun

NoHo Arts District
Pitfire Pizza
Food

The first Pitfire, opened on this corner in 1997 and still the one the rest were copied from. You order at a counter, they call a number, and personal wood-fired pizzas and pasta come out to a patio and beer garden on the northwest corner of Lankershim and Magnolia. Beer and wine, paper napkins, no host stand. On some evenings there is trivia or a comic or a band in the garden.

Sun to Thu, 11am to 11pm. Fri and Sat, 11am to midnight

NoHo Arts District
Republic of Pie
Coffee

A coffeehouse on Magnolia a block off Lankershim that sells whole pies and slices, sweet and savory, and runs live music on a small stage most nights of the week with no cover. Opens at 9am, which makes it the default place in the NoHo Arts District to sit for an hour before a curtain. Tables fill with people working and the music starts in the evening without anybody clearing the laptops out.

Mon to Wed, 9am to 8:30pm. Thu, 9am to 9pm. Fri and Sat, 8:30am to 9pm. Sun, 9am to 9pm

NoHo Arts District
Superba Snacks + Coffee
Food

Part bakery, part café, with most of the seating outdoors under umbrellas at the Lankershim corner. Bread and pastry are made on site and the savory side runs to egg dishes, toasts and grain bowls. It is ordered at the counter. The NoHo branch is the Valley outpost of a Venice operation that has been going since the early 2010s.

Daily, 7am to 3pm

NoHo Arts District
The Alley Burger
Food

A smash burger counter that opened in March 2026 in the building that used to be The Alley, the recording studio where Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, Etta James and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all cut tracks. The owners kept the name and the history is on the walls. Burgers and fries during the week. Brunch on weekends. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Wed and Thu, 4pm to 10pm. Fri and Sat, 11:30am to 10pm. Sun, 11:30am to 9pm. Closed Mon and Tue

The Moon
Coffee

A small café on the same block of Lankershim as the theater, open 8am to 8pm seven days. They make crepes to order, savory and sweet, along with French omelettes, baklava and sandwiches, and the coffee runs to the flavored end of the spectrum. Plain filter is on the board too. It is counter order, then sit.

Mon to Fri, 7am to 8pm. Sat and Sun, 8am to 8pm
