Pacific Palisades
Eames House
Culture

Charles and Ray Eames built this in 1949 as Case Study House No. 8 and lived in it for the rest of their lives. Two steel-framed boxes sit in a meadow of eucalyptus on a bluff above the ocean, the industrial frame ordered out of a catalog and then filled in with colored panels. The January 2025 Palisades fire did not burn it. It came through with smoke and fire-retardant contamination, closed about five months, and reopened in late July 2025. Since then the visit has included Charles and Ray's private studio, which had never been open to the public.

Grounds and Studio Visit runs April 5 to October 31, with slots at 10am, 11am, 1:30pm and 2:30pm

Pacific Palisades
Gladstones
Food

A seafood place that has sat on the sand where Sunset meets Pacific Coast Highway since 1972, wrapped around an open deck that looks straight down the beach. The dining hall burned in the Palisades Fire and the deck and a back-up kitchen came back in July 2025, so what you get now is lunch, dinner and drinks outside. Order the fried stuff and sit where the water is.

Monday to Thursday and Sunday, 11am to 8pm. Friday and Saturday, 11am to 9pm

Pacific Palisades
Palisades Garden Cafe
Coffee

A cafe on La Cruz just off Sunset, a few steps behind the village center, with a patio and a pastry case. It was one of the buildings that came through the January 2025 fire still standing and it kept serving the neighborhood through the worst of the recovery. Coffee, eggs and sandwiches until five, then it shuts.

Monday to Friday 6:30am to 5pm. Saturday 7am to 5pm. Closed Sunday
