Opened in 1964 by Dobrivoje Tanasijevic, a Serbian former soccer player who had been maitre d' at La Scala. He kept the neon sign frame from the restaurant he took over. Around twenty tables in a 1929 bungalow, red checked cloths, and dishes named after regulars. The Troubadour is next door.

The bar runs through a Pacific Electric Red Car trolley built around 1904, parked here in 1925 as the Red Post Cafe and renamed Formosa in 1939. It closed at the end of 2016 and the 1933 Group spent roughly two and a half million dollars putting it back, reopening in June 2019.

MAK Center at the Schindler House
Culture

Rudolph Schindler built this for himself in 1921 and 1922 on Kings Road, and it is the house most of Southern California modernism is descended from. It now runs as the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, with contemporary shows installed in the house and its courtyards rather than in a gallery built for the purpose.

Food

A twelve-foot hot dog you order through, designed by Milton J. Black and commissioned in 1939 by the dance act Veloz and Yolanda. The 1933 Group restored it and reopened in July 2022 on a lot that held a studio once used by the Doors. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
