6 stopsA barbecue counter and bar on Belmont Street, in the building next to the comedy club, doing smoked meats with southern sides in a plain setting that has never pretended otherwise. There is a patio outside and a full bar in. Nothing here needs calling ahead.
Mon to Thu, 11am to 9pm. Fri and Sat, 11am to 10pm. Sun, 11am to 8pm
An independent coffee and tea bar on Flower Street, a block off the boulevard, pouring espresso alongside Japanese teas and a matcha list that goes further than most. It opens at seven on weekdays and eight at weekends and keeps going into the evening, which very few cafés around here do. The seating is limited and most people are working or waiting for a to-go cup.
Mon to Fri, 7am to 7:30pm. Sat, 8am to 6pm. Sun, 8am to 7:30pm
An open-air courtyard built out of repurposed shipping containers at Bellflower Boulevard and Oak Street, with eight independent counters around a shared seating yard. Tacos Arandas, Un Rinconcito Argentino and Panda Sal's handle most of the food, Off Duty pours beer and wine, and Pana's Café and Brown Cup Boba open at seven in the morning. Leashed dogs are welcome and there is no minimum spend to sit down.
Mon and Tue, 7am to 9pm. Wed, Thu and Sun, 7am to 10pm. Fri and Sat, 7am to 11pm
A Mexican bar and kitchen on Bellflower Boulevard, loud and painted in Day of the Dead colors, serving cocktails alongside a full menu. Banda plays live every Sunday at eight in the evening. It opens at nine in the morning and runs to midnight, which is a longer day than anything else on the boulevard.
Sun, 9am to midnight. Other days generally 11am to midnight, later at weekends
A whiskey bar and grill on Bellflower Boulevard with a long back bar, live music on some nights and a weekend brunch that starts at nine in the morning. Happy hour runs from three to six Monday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday the bar goes to one in the morning, which is the latest close on this street.
Mon to Thu, 3pm to 10pm. Fri, 3pm to 1am. Sat, 9am to 1am. Sun, 9am to 10pm
The oldest bar in Bellflower, trading on the boulevard since 1934, with shuffleboard and darts and a michelada it is named for locally. It is a dive in the plain sense of the word and does not dress itself up. It opens at four in the afternoon and runs to two in the morning.
Daily, 4pm to 2am
