Carnegie library
The oldest library building the Los Angeles Public Library owns, put up in 1913 with Carnegie money and still a working branch. It sits on the edge of a small park with a reading area under high windows and a local history shelf. Anyone can walk in, sit down and stay, which is worth knowing on a hot afternoon in this part of the city.
Mon and Wed, 10am to 8pm. Tue and Thu, noon to 8pm. Fri and Sat, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Closed Sun
