3 stopsAl Langer opened this counter across from MacArthur Park in 1947 and his son Norm still runs it. The number 19 is pastrami on double-baked rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing. It closes at 4pm, which is the single most important thing to know about it.

Next door to the Teragram on Seventh Street, with dark wood, a short beer list and a DJ most nights. It opens late and closes at 2am. On a weeknight it is mostly people who came out of the venue next door.

Tom Koulax opened this walk-up stand on the corner of Beverly and Rampart on May 15, 1946 and it has not closed since. There is no indoor seating, just a counter you stand at and a chili burger wrapped in paper. It marked eighty years in May 2026 by selling the burger for eighty cents.
