Before
Vitello'sCharles Vitello opened this on Tujunga Avenue in 1964 selling sandwiches on bread he baked himself, and it grew into the Italian restaurant Studio City treats as its own. New owners took over in 2005 and added a cocktail lounge upstairs where jazz and cabaret acts play. Downstairs is still red sauce, veal and a waiter who has worked there a long time.

After
NoBarA dive on the east end of Magnolia with pool, craft beer on tap and cocktails that are better than the lighting suggests. It opens at 5pm and runs to 2am every night of the week, which in this part of the Valley is unusual. Regulars sit at the bar, and nobody is here for the décor.
