Before
Griffith ObservatoryThe 1935 observatory on the south face of Mount Hollywood, in copper-domed Art Deco, and it has been free to walk into since the day it opened. Evening telescope viewing is available. A Foucault pendulum stands in the entry, and the terrace takes in the basin from downtown to the ocean. The building runs until 10pm, which is later than almost anything else of this kind in the city.

After
Jumbo's Clown RoomA small bar on the eastern end of Hollywood Boulevard that has run a bikini dance stage since 1982, where the dancers pick their own music off the jukebox and there is no full nudity and no cover most nights. Courtney Love worked here before Hole. It is a beer and well-drink bar, no food.
